Yes, there was much interchange between BASH and KSH on experimental features.

For quite a while, unless you were on specific proprietary Unices
(e.g. AIX), the only way you could get the latest KSH features was in
BASH, since only the early one was in Linux or Gnu for Windows.

Right, minimalist modern extensions like (D)?ASH that go back to SH
roots will be SH like, not (BA|K)SH like.
