3rd BIG IDE drive in LINUX 1.2.11

I have just added a third IDE drive to my system. OS/2 Warp Connect
sees and uses it just fine. LINUX recognizes the drive hdc upon
bootup (the third drive is a 1.6GB Western Digital). However,
LINUX "fdisk /dev/hdc" does not see it. I have placed a fat
partition on the drive, but LINUX complains that the kernel does
not support it. The first drive on the system is a Micropolis 1GB and the
second drive is a WD 1.2 GB. So I am not new to using BIG drives with
LINUX. So what's the trouble? Do I need to build a new kernel with
this drive active? I am using a DTC 2278 VLB EIDE card. I am
running LINUX 1.2.11 with IP_masq patch.
