PC stores

A week ago, a new PC store opened up in Cambridge called Micro Center.
I checked its reference section, and to my surprise found that it has
one of the most complete technical book selections in the area.  It's a
little weak on the periodicals, but it does have a full row devoted to
Unix (including a couple of SSC-published Linux books), another row
devoted to AI, and is in general a good place to send folks who are just
starting out their explorations in Linux/Unix-land.  The main part of
the store was packed when I visited today, but I noticed the spacious
book section (located at one end of the building, where the flower shop
used to be :-) didn't attract a lot of visitors.  A nice find, I think.

Would like to hear your comments here if you've visited HiQ of
Waltham.  They've begun to advertise Linux-ready computers (in the
Sunday Globe business section), and they offer free installation.

I used to recommend PCs for Everyone of Cambridge, until Donna left there
to take a job at Cambridge Soundworks; more recently I've been happy with
Mainboard of Newton.
