Msdos hidden files viewable from linux?

MS-DOS system files, i.e. io.sys and msdos.sys, in the latest DOS versions,
6.0-6.22, don't have to be physically located as the first two files on the
disk, just listed in the root directory of your c: drive. This wasn't always
the case.

With microsoft selling version step-ups, the newer versions of io.sys and
msdos.sys were larger than their predecessors, (as always), and when you
upgraded, the files were put where ever they could be contiguous, but with
their directory entries still in the root directory.

So, backing-up these two files shouldn't present any problems, but, still
anything could happen.
