RX and TX Overruns

I have a question concerning RX-OVR and TX-OVR as reported by
netstat. I am running Linux 1.2.1 on a 486/66DX2 with 24MB of
memory and a US Robotics
28.8 external modem attached to my COM2 port. The serial card has
a 16550 chip. I am using DIP (dialup IP) over a SLIP connection to
TIAC. I noticed a large number of RX-OVR as well as TX-OVR
on my sl0 interface. The values for RX-ERR, RX-DRP, TX-ERR
TX-DRP are 0.

Does anyone know what the RX-OVR and TX-OVR values are trying to
tell me and what can I do to eliminate them?? My MTU value is 296
which, I think, is a standard value for serial lines.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks, Chuck
