ISA Network Cards

The following all have PCI network cards:

Microcenter, Cambridge
PCs for Everyone, Cambridge
Comp USA, Brighton/Cambridge/Woburn/Framingham
Computer City, Framingham
Circuit City, Somerville

I'm not at all sure if anyone makes ISA versions running at 100Mbps;
the technology's too slow.  (I ran into a similar problem trying to
upgrade a bunch of notebook PC's last year--wound up scrapping the notebooks
because they had the old-style 16-bit PCMCIA slots.)

And EISA products aren't stocked anywhere.  Probably you'll have to mail-order.

There are a handful of small suppliers struggling against the above
superstores.  You could probably get one of them to special-order something
for you.

Question:  with PCI-bus motherboards running about a hundred bucks these
days, why try to upgrade an ISA or EISA system?  Note that if you surf
the Onsale website mentioned earlier, you can usually find motherboard
upgrade kits going for practically nothing.  Of course, in case of problems
you'd probably be better off going to one of the retailers (PCs for Everyone
seems to specialize in custom-order and pieces-parts systems).
