To write SGML or HTML?

If this is purely a slide presentation that you're going to showing in
a browser, and maybe putting up on the web for future reference, I'd say
HTML.

If this is documentation that has other requirements, e.g.,

	- needs to be structured in a way that programs can easily parse it for data 
	- or can convert from the storage format to a
	  variety of presentation formats (HTML, PDF, LaTeX, etc)
	- Needs to be integrated into a larger documentation project

then I'd say go with XML or SGML.

There's a lot to be said for using what you already know, esp. if the task
is something simple and small like a slide presentation, as opposed to
building the engineering documentation library for the Boeing 767.

Does anyone remember if the LDP is moving towards some sort of XML or SGML?
Or was XML going to be used as the document file format for gnome?
