Apparently, this file is produced by the build process, because make
distclean gets rid of it.  If you haven't built a kernel with that
tree, you might want to.  Then again, I'm using 2.2.7, and things may
have changed since them.

FWIW, I was having weird compilation problems with 2.2.10 regarding
missing module symbols; I haven't posted anything to the kernel
mailing list about it, because everyone else seems to have no problems
with 2.2.10 -- it's been quite a while since the last stable release,
don't you know...
