You can actually forgo the second NIC, plug your cable modem into a hub, and
attach up to three devices. Costs about $15 extra a month, and saves me a
valuable IRQ!! ;)

M1X hasn't had that policy in a long time.  Their policy for over a year
has been "we won't help you do it, if you need our help you should be
able to hook up to a Windows machine for testing, and if you do anything
that affects other users on the system, you're gonna get shut down".

So basically that means you need to set up a firewall with two network
cards (one internal one external), don't use dhcpcd, and do know what
you're doing.  Seems reasonable to me.

I hear RCN is a lot more restrictive.
