IS WINDOWS A VIRUS?

Maybe just their documentation is virus prone. RE: Samba checklist of a
few days back. Finally got Linux to recognize my old nic card LinkSys.
Now I'm trying to figure out (once again) how to configure the rest of
my Microsoft Peer-to-Peer Windows 95/98 network. I have just about every
book they've ever written in front of my but Microsoft tends to say "We
do that" without really ever telling you HOW to do it". I had my net
working a year ago (though trial and error) don't have the time to
rethink it. What protocols do I need to run Windows Network with Samba?
I have:
Client for Microsoft Networks
NE2000 Compatible
TCP/IP->NE2000 Compatible
File and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks

I have shares setup for everything. I can [now] ping everything but
cannot see my Linux box nor any of my other Windows-based computers.
