what are good benchmarking tools

I can't make any recommendations as to benchmarks, but if memory serves
the IPC has an SBUS architecture that can handle data transfer rates of
over 100Mbps, and since your DSL isn't likely to be more than 1Mbps and
all you'll really be doing is pushing data back and forth over the bus,
you shouldn't have any problems.
