Well I aint no Emacs Guru, but this is what you want:

M-% C-q C-r <ret> <ret>

Key Combo is :
	M-% (Meta percent) (or for some keyboards esc) to enter query-replace
	C-q (control Q) to quote the next character
	C-r for the 'search for' prompt (search for control R)
	<ret> to end search pattern
	<ret> to enter the replacement value of nothing :)
