RH 6.1 - X server question

need help on this cuz I am ready to throw my machine out the window..

- I installed RH6.1 with the "KDE" workstation option

- everything seemed to go oK... but the screen quivers a bit in X  (and out
of X also)... think it's the lights in my office..

BUT -- I tried to run Xconfigurator to check the install... the
Xconfigurator detects an ATI card which is disabled... I have an STB
Velocity card which worked perfectly in RH6.0 and the ATI card (on board
mind you) is disabled in CMOS setup


so my question is -- can I somehow uninstall all the stuff put on by the
install/setup program and replace with the appropriate Xserver?  if so..
WHAT DO I DELETE... and what don't I...

essentially i want to run the RIVA128 server NOT the generic SVGA one

please be specific since I am a (CRINGE) Win NT person... :)
