Red Hat remote administration question

I am planning on adding some IP aliases (eg. eth0:1, eth0:2, ...). With X,
this can be done using either linuxconf or netcfg. I can also do it
manually by creating the appropriate if-up and if-down scripts along with
the appropriate symlinks. Is there a way to do this without using X (or
netscape), such as a character cell based version of linuxconf or netcfg
under Red Hat. In SuSE, I can do this quickly and easily with YaST.
