Right, so long as temp is allocated large enough to hold the string and
the terminating null, this is not a problem. I went back and fixed the
malloc, and the problem is solved.  I found the explanatory part of your
message a little hard to follow, but it sounded like you're still not
convinced of the correctness of the rest_of_string() function.  I'll
discuss that more with you offlist.
