Yeah, definitely the compilation mode of emacs is pretty sweet.
When you compile, the errors pop into another buffer, and from
there you can go straight to the error in the source just like
using a hyperlink. In emacs, 'C-h i', go to 'emacs',
then search for 'compilation'. :)
