This makes replying privately to the sender rather a pain in the *$$.
It's just a bad idea, and there are lots of good arguments against doing
it, and few (but admittedly some) good arguments for doing it. 

Plus the point was that there are two copies of the message IN THE SAME
MESSAGE.  So if you count what you're talking about, you get FOUR copies
of the message, not two.

It's very easy to configure procmail to filter out duplicate messages...
it's specifically mentioned in the man pages.
