printing via smbclient on Solaris?

I've got a bunch of Solaris 7 servers that I'd like to set up printing
for. I tried jetdirect, but I've had no luck getting it to work reliably.
Printing from Windows is working okay, and I'm able to use smbclient in
a shell script to send a postscript file to a Windows print share.

I was able to get /etc/printcap configured on Linux to use this, but I
don't see how to do the same with the Solaris lpd. Can someone post a
working example of an /etc/printers.conf entry that feeds a print job
to a local shell script?
