If you're counting Intel-compatible processors from other manufacturers,
you'll find a lot of people using them. I run Linux on a Cyrix 6x86, and
have also installed it on AMD and Cyrix 486 systems, a K5 (a while ago)
and an Athlon. One of my housemates also uses a 6x86. The K6, K6/2, and
K6/3 all work fine, though I don't personally use any of them for Linux. I
believe that the Cyrix MII and the Centaur WinChip also work.

The only Intel processors I have are in laptop computers - there weren't
any alternatives there until quite recently.
