CIFS (or equiv.) and security

Regarding the protocol formerly known as SMB...
In a small home network with mixed Windoz and Linux systems, does it 
make sense to use both NFS and Samba, using NFS to mount Linux 
directories and SMB to mount shares from Windows machines.
