Apache Question... mod_rewrite or redirect???

You could do all of this, but why not just tie the cookie to some object
on the page with an explicit domain?  That is, you could do an 'IMG
SRC="http://xyz.com/...' and then tie the cookie to THAT.  This is how
Doubleclick.Net and similar operations do cookie tracking, and it is a
more general solution.  You can have the content split across different
physical servers, and you can preserve the appearance of the original URL
if that is important for business branding reasons.
