it probably won't matter, but have you tried "unix:0.0" and
"localhost:0.0" ?

are you sure that the display is display 0.0??  make sure by:
	xdpyinfo | head -1	

did the user 'root' start the X server?  You should be doing this all as
whoever logged in and ran X...
