Connectivity woes in Boston

Verizon may be telling the truth. From what I've learned, the DSL
providers only put their equipment in select central offices (CO).
Earthlink may have their equipment in a CO closer to you.

Regardless, beware of long DSL spans. I had perfect DSL service when I
lived in Brighon (100% underground cables, about 1 mile from the CO).
But I was down 5-50% of the time when I moved to an area with overhead
lines over 2 miles from the CO. I had technicians at my home at least 6
times but no one could fix it, so I went to AT&T Broadband cable and have
been happy ever since.
