That is true. A cable modem system works well as long as the provider 
limits the number of subscribers on a single cable loop. Mediaone used to 
limit this to 300. When they exceeded this, they would split it.

DSL is a decent technology, but has been thwarted by phone companies who 
provide lousy service.

People will endure a certain amount of problems, but when there are 
alternatives, they will eventually move over to the better alternatives.
