Modem question

We just bought a 3Com (US Robotics) ISA modem at CompUSA for about $100 which
works fine with Linux.

But generally, I prefer the MultiTech ZBX or ZBA external modems. The ZBA
supports remote configuration, a real plus for us, since we rely on modems
for servicing remote sites.

There are several web pages you can check out if you're interested in
getting Winmodems to work...

http://www.kcdata.com/~gromitkc/winmodem.html
http://www.linmodems.org/

There are probably more - these two showed up on top using Google to search
for "winmodem linux".

Good luck. Give me a holler if you need more help - modems are a way of
life at our shop.
