Monitors and power draw

I think you hit the nail on the head. If your eyes bother you with a CRT, 
then get something different, or change to a different frequency or 
resolution if you can. 

For the most part, the 15" TFT monitors are as good as most of the 17" 
tubes, but it depends on how you use it and and what resolution.
