If you have any MS OS installation media, you should have access to MS's
'fdisk' utility.  If you run:

fdisk /mbr

you will update the master boot record.  The fdisk utility will examine
the current partitioning, and attempt to discover which partition is
bootable (e.g. - the first primary DOS parition).

Surprisingly, fdisk usually doesn't conclude that any available ext2
partitions are bootable.  ;)
