problems accesing windows partition

I'm running Mandrake 8.1 set on dual boot with Win XP Prof. and never had any problems accessing the windows partition but recently I converted it from a FAT32 to NTFS I'm pretty sure I've set up linux correctly but I can only get in as root and if I try to change the permissions it won't let meGet more from the Web.
