   That's a good question.  Some adapters work very well, some will not 
work with a stock RH kernel, some need a newer kernel to work properly, 
and some are just not supported by Linux.
   For example, the Keyspan adapters will NOT work until you rebuild your 
kernel with the right firmware included.  In my case a Keyspan USA-19W 
also causes a kernel panic with anything older than 2.4.7 or so.
