A few words on WEP:

YES, it has been broken. However, I still think it provides a modicum of
security that makes it worth having. The trick is not to be lulled into a
false sense of security by it. Use ssh for interactive sessions, use
encrypted IMAP, use SSL on sensitive web pages. You should really use
these precautions even in wired networks, as you don't know who is
listening on your ethernet segment, or who at your ISP or your ISP's NSP
is listening.

Also, there is some confusion involving WEP:

40 bits = 64 bits.
112 bits = 128 bits.

The difference in terminology is not that a given vendor is trying to pull
the wool over  your eyes, just that there are different ways of defining
it.
