Windows Question...

If you have installed the EXCELLENT Cygwin Tools (cygwin.com), you get not just a reboot command, but also a nearly complete GNU shell on Windows. Note that there are small issues using Cygwin on a non-NT Windows box (but plenty of people use it on Win9x).

Installing Cygwin just to get a reboot command would be overkill. But Cygwin is fantastic for BASH scripting on Windows, and it's easy to write cross-platform scripts if you want that also.

A simple reboot command is available here:

I've never personally tested either reboot command. Windows reboots on me often enough, thank you. ;-)

Subject: Windows Question...

Sorry to bother you but have a question about Windows that MS doesn't seem to make available to the rest of us. Does anyone know of a DOS prompt command that either reboots or shutsdown Windows 98 SE? More specifically, I want to powerdown one of my computers without using the keyboard and/or mouse but when program is done executing.
Conversely, is there a command sequence that would allow me to create a macro to replicate pressing Start, Shutdown, Shutdown?

Thanks for your thoughts on this matter!

Kevin
