SAMBA and MS Office, etc.

I'm trying to figure out the best and very cheapest way to build a small network
and database system for a client. There are already databases built in MS Access
and Lotus Approach, and I had thought to just continue to use those as the core
of a distributed system from an NT based server, or perhaps from a SAMBA based
LINUX server.

One problem I am having is finding the low cost office suites to use those data
bases, and I didn't want to get into a web based SQL server at this point. So
I'm wondering whether StarOffice 5.2 might serve well as the office suite on
each computer and then upload the Approach and Access data files onto the LINUX
box under SAMBA, or if mandatory, under NT 4.0.

Any thoughts on this approach?

TIA, Randy Hofland
