In the past, peopl had complained about 'kernel of the week' linux. It was
decided that 2.6.0 needed to be very polished before release, as Linux
wants to set itself apart by being able to be up for years before a reboot
is neccessary, and only with a tried and true kernel can that be done.

Yes, the wait was long. But there were good reasons. Still, some
application developers are waiting "two or three kernel revisions, till
things settle down" before porting to 2.6 -- they just don't understand,
it seems, that this kernel is supposed to be stable.

I am still running 2.4, becauase that's what debian stable is running. But
I have this strange feeling I will be upgrading very soon now.
