philosophical issue: slackware vrs redhat

I have to agree with the other people here.  Script Kidding care not
what Distro you are running; they care that you are running Linux/x86,
or Apache-1.3.20, or telnet-X.Y.Z.  They could care less about whether
you are running Red Hat, Debian, Gentoo, or FlyByNight Linux -- it's
the "Linux" that is the key.

So, I have to agree with the other responses -- you should run
what you feel comfortable maintaining, because it is the ongoing
maintenence that keeps your machines secure [*].

[*]: I should not that running on "strange hardware" is an advantage.
Few hackers really try to break into linux/ppc or linux/mips based
machines.
