If you are on the road and need to check your e-mail from say a hotel lobby's computer or Internet cafe, you can simply go to your private web site to read your e-mail.  i.e.  Those computers won't likely have a SSH client...  I should add that I would normally read e-mail with a real mail client so this would be for those special occasions...
