You're sending mail from your own MTA without going through your ISP's mail 
server.
In essence, many ISPs are wary of mailservers connecting from DSL/cable modem 
blocks of addresses -- you think "cool, I'm running my own mailserver," they 
think "spammer."  
You can either:
a) lobby your ISP to get AOL to accept mail from its dynamic IPs (not likely 
to happen)
b) set up Ximian to use your ISP's outbound SMTP server to send mail (I could 
tell you how to do this with KMail, but that's probably not much help).
