Booting to SAN

Does anyone here have any experience or comments on Linux booting to
a SAN?  What fiber channel HBA adapters are preferred? 

My intuition tells me that there's a kernel patch/recompile, and perhaps
even firmware updates for HBA's and/or SAN storage servers.

Also, are you aware of exceptionally well designed servers for this purpose.
Many blades servers these days have fiber HBA options, but do not provide
easy transfer of WWN's from one server to the next.  This puts the burden
or provisioning on zoning rules which can't really be done during the business
day.

Any thoughts and comments welcome....
