A CEO has an agenda set by the Board of Directors. That might be to
develop a strategy to sell the company. I have no idea what McBride's
strategy is. His background suggests that he is a builder, not a
turn-around or acqusitions person. 

There are several resons why SCO may have launched the suit. One could
very well be to become acquired. Another could possibly be to obtain a
competitive advantage over the other Linux distros while continue to
market SCO's Unix.
