This is true. I once had a boss on a contract who was looking for a
couple of additional contractors. He rejected a guy because he did not
have Unix Workstation experience (although he did have Unix experience).
Two of the contractors he hired didn't know C. One guy was a hardware
person who was able to learn quickly, the other was a total zero. The
job was to build a system to manage DES encryption keys for a network
that contained about 3000 encryption boxes.
