Network routing problem [solved]

OK, Forget I asked. The problem is that I have a dual port ethernet card 
in this box and I had the cable plugged into the wrong one. Doh! 
Interestingly enough, my Knoppix CD correctly saw that eth1 had a 
connection and used that instead.
