Spammer on the list

I checked out that spam message from info at b29.biz, and it turns out 
this spammer subscribed to the list before sending his garbage. 

I've unsubscribed him, but I imagine that won't help much. In order 
to subscribe, he would have had to receive and reply to the message 
with the subscription confirmation info, and if spammers are starting 
to do that, I don't see how we can distinguish in advance which 
subscribers are spammers and which are legitimate.
