I don't think my company would go for Debian, and while I like it 
better then Red Hat, the glacial pace of releases has gotten to me.

Interesting, but I don't think that fits our needs. I'm not sure a 
zero-installed toolchain would be practical. :) And can you 
zero-install KDE?
