I'm experiencing a similar problem on my girlfriend's laptop (RH9 - with
updates) using a USB keychain device.  The first few times the device is
plugged in, it seems to do okay and can be mounted from /dev/sda1...
after that, it's a no-go, and I'm told that /dev/sda1 is "not a valid
block device".  Only rebooting the system seems to fix this.
