Windows or Linux for parents' PC?

hi.  i'm sure as hell no guru but...  my redhat 9 personal didn't come
with zine (or i'm a wacko and just didn't see it).  i tried installing
it and had some problems.  then i went to
http://cambuca.ldhs.cetuc.puc-rio.br/xine/
and followed his directions (RPMS) and everything worked out fine.  i
use it for most of my multimedia.  i think he has the codecs you're
looking for.  there's an occasional hiccup, but that's more on my end (i
can never stop screwing with things).  i think it's pretty cool you're
going to hook it up for your parents.  i'm trying to get my folks to
love the penguin also.  when somebody wants something fixed for free, i
leave them with a duel boot machine.  my $0.02.  eric.
