fetchmail on Solaris

From your description and a cursory look at webmail.us, fetchmail would 
certainly work from the retreival standpoint, but it wants to dump the 
email to the local hosts MTA. I think that Miah's solution might be 
workable, which is essentially your plan B. You are right, that is the 
smarthost feature. I generally prefer to let the MTA do its own sending, 
but Smarthost works fine. 
(Pardon my slow typing but I'm running povray on a lab system and the damn 
thing takes focus each time it pops up a window almost as annoying as popup 
ads).
