I think one of the differences between MicroCenter and online are 
retail-box vs. OEM. I recently bought a harddrive at MicroCenter, and 
the price for the exact same drive in retail form at NewEgg.com was $2 
cheaper. But newegg also sold the same drive in OEM configuration (bare 
drive, no cables, etc) for significantly less, and they sold other 
comparable drives by other manufacturers for even less.

I think the same is true for ram, its often a retail vs oem deal.
