MS SQL limits you in other ways, too.  I worked with a client who was 
using MS SQL Server Small Business.  The server was maxing out, so he 
spoke to MSFT about his options.  The Small Business licence/software is 
only designed for a certain load.  MSFT quoted him about $11,000 to go up 
to the next level.

He decided to take that $11,000 or so and put it towards rewriting the DB 
layer of the software to talk to MySQL instead ;)
