Duo Core lesson thank you

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who responded to my query so quickly over
the weekend and provided a very valuable education.

I didn't think dual-processor (seperate socket) laptops existed, and I'd heard
Core 2 Duo was like it, but need to learn more from reliable, educated sources.

These lists are wonderful!

What I learned, in a nutshell was:

- Core 2 Duo is essentially a dual processor system that is slightly less
efficent that having two separate processors on the same board (similar to two
processors back-to-back, depending on the manufacturing process used)

- Having two separate processors on the same motherboard might be cost and
power-consuming prohibitive

- Core Duo is less efficient than Core 2 Duo (put extremely simply - I'd have to
look at the email responses to offer a better qualified answer)
