My family has been using Ubuntu to replace Windows for the last 2
years.  They are now used to it and like it better than Windows.  A
major feature is that they don't have to constantly clean/reinstall
Windows.  Also, my step-mother is visually impaired and we utilize the
disability features of Ubuntu, which are quite useful.  The
compiz-extra package in Ubuntu provides the 'neg' plugin.  After
activating this in gconf, she can hit '<super>+n' to negate the entire
screen, so that the colors which are difficult to see become readable
for her.  Windows and Ubuntu both have a high-contrast theme, but
compiz allows to switch between these views quite nicely :-)
