libata support was around in Ubuntu before RHEL5/CentOS-5 came out.
So, before RHEL5, we were utilizing Ubuntu.  When CentOS-5 was finally
released (after much delay), we switched back to it because the
version of Ubuntu we were using was not an LTS release.  When 8.04 LTS
appears, we may want to switch for the new Completely Fair Scheduler
(CFS).

Ubuntu is the only distro, to my knowledge, that includes VMware
Server in their repositories, which is another added benefit.  Since
we rely on this stuff, it is useful to get automated security
fixes/updates to the packages if we like.  This means we don't have to
grunt through the pain of their tar.gz or RPM release, which sometimes
has problems with the kernel, as anyone who has configured VMware
before knows.  Sometimes your vmmon module will not build correctly
due to kernel changes :-)

Now we don't have to worry about patching VMware with any-any and/or
working around a new kernel which is incompatible by default...
